Kate Lynch

I’ve lived in the wonderful city of DuPont since 2004. Before moving here, I lived in Tacoma for four years. I also own a communications and photography business in DuPont – Word and Picture Communications and Kate Lynch Photographs. I’ve taught digital photography classes locally as well. My “day job” for more than 19 years was as a public information officer (communication and community outreach) for state government. I’ve devoted more than 35 years to public service in community colleges in Arizona and public health programs in Washington state. I’m a former newspaper reporter and editor, and taught journalism and cross-cultural communication in Arizona community colleges.

I’m a New Jersey native – born and raised in another small historic city: Bordentown, founded by Quakers in 1682. I finished my bachelor’s degree in Arizona, where I lived and worked for 26 years. I earned a master’s degree in international administration from the School for International Training (now SIT Graduate Institute) in Vermont and a bachelor’s degree in fine arts photography from Arizona State University.

I have a grown son who lives in Tumwater and works for the City of DuPont. He was raised the way I was: with a commitment to community. My son Sean graduated from Pierce College and University of Washington-Tacoma, and was an active volunteer in DuPont, including serving on the city’s Parks Commission before joining the staff.

I’m also “mom” to furry family members: a big fluffy “super mutt” adopted from Forever Home Dog Rescue, a gray tabby cat and a gray Maine coon cat. Finn (super mutt) and I enjoy walking DuPont’s wonderful trails and (me) photographing our many beautiful sites.
